LETTERS

The BRAIN GAME • Planet Earth is home to a vast array of different life forms and incredible geographical features that boggle our minds. Can you identify the following wonders of our world?

Georgia O’Keeffe

MAGNIFIED DETAIL PAINTING • Paint a magnified detail from a natural object. Zooming in to an object and focussing on a small area can produce surreal and abstract results. For example, Georgia O Keeffe’s clear and simple style, with pure colours sometimes has the effect of a sci-fi animation.

OUR PLANET

Zoo Visit

Music Inspired by Planet Earth • People who write music find inspiration in many places. One of them is the planet we live on with its magnificent mountains, deep mysterious oceans and incredibly diverse wildlife. Here’s some examples of composers and their music about planet Earth…

DEAD AND ALIVE

BBQ BEANS • Here is a ‘hearty, healthy, down-to-earth kind of meal. (Also cowboy friendly just in case you have invited some over for tea).Yee-hah!

Glorious and extraordinary foods from around the globeg • Our planet provides us with plenty of nutritious foods. But climate change is having an effect on what we can grow and where. Droughts and floods can disrupt growth of crops and cause more diseases in plants. Looking after our planet and helping it flourish will help us flourish too.

Once upon a time... • ... there was no Earth, no Moon, and no life. But all that started to change around 4,600 million years ago.

Make a Timeline • The Earth has been around for a really, really long time. This month we’ll be ‘measuring’ the Earth’s history, and ours too.

WHAT’S THE SCIENCE?

GOOD NEWS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: OZONE HOLE HEALING
